More Bug Fixes and Enhancements (patch 1.2.174)

We just pushed out patch 1.2.174. It tries to address a few of the bugs and user suggestions reported on getsatisfaction over the last 10 days.

Change Log

  • Added limited support for right to left languages. (see zkaka and khosrow)
  • Further reduced the size of the mini when no sharing metadata is available from Google Reader, Friendfeed and Digg. (see phil)
  • Fixed bug related to tweets not rendering in the explore (see @PlaysK)
  • Extended the explore page to have stock information if the thing being explored is a company
  • Extended the explore page to include a CrunchBase overview is the thing being explored is a company, product or person (see screenshot)
  • Improved the integration with Tumblr so that the tumblr action defaults to creating a link if the article does not include any annotation. Feedly+Tumblr video coming soon (see @wizkid)
  • Improved the preference settings for activation of feedly mini[1]

Feedly Mini Activtation

More of the feedly mini activation settings. In 1.2.174, we refacted the preference knob called “Mini Toolbar”. It now supports four possible values: disable, my-content, interesting-content and all-content. Here is a short description for each value:

  • disable means do not show feedly mini under any circumpstances. This is targeted at people who find the toolbar annoying/intrusive and do not want to see it.
  • my-content means activate the toolbar only if the page loaded in the browser belongs to a feed I subscribe to or if there is a twitter context available.
  • interesting-content means activate mini if this is my-content or there is sharing metadata associated with this page. This is the default setting when you opt-in using feedly mini.
  • all-content: based on popular demand, we added a new level called all-content which allows users to active feedly mini on all pages but the once they have defined in the “Mini Exclude List” preference. To make mini less intrusive in this mode, we further reduced the size of feedly mini when no sharing metadata is available.

Thank you for the continuous stream of feedback and suggestions on both twitter and getsatisfaction.
