Memory Optimizations in Streets (gen. III)

Today we are pushing out as part of patch 1.2.180, a new version of the feedly streets framework (aka. gen III). In this version we have redesigned how the UI elements in feedly bind to the DOM. And the results are in: 3x less memory consumption and 2x less CPU usage. As importantly, you will see feedly release memory much more proactively & aggressively as you navigate from articles to articles and from pages to pages to keep the overall amount of memory used by firefox as low as possible.

This was one of the most painful re-factoring we did since the inception of the project but we learned a lot through this process on how to make ajax applications and firefox extensions more memory efficient. We will try to capture and share that knowledge as soon as feedly 2.0 is out.

Please open a bug on getsatisfaction/feedly if you run into any regression.
