Gestures. we spent some time simplifying gestures in this new release. here is a quick overview.

  • Swipe down on an article snippet to mark the article as read.
  • Swipe down more to mark the entire card as read.
  • Swipe up for keeping article(s) as unread.
  • Press and hold to save/unsave

[Update. Crunching through the feedback as it comes in. Compiling list of things people like and the things they would like to be fixed in the next iteration of the beta. This is *very* useful. Thanks you!]

The good:

  • I LOVE the new UI. So slick [Julian Finn, Nexus 7 and Galaxy S3]
  • Amazing! Very close to the web experience. [Winson]
  • Very happy about the dark theme. Happy about the “share using” button’s return. [Dom Bonanni /Motorola Droid 2]
  • Awesome. Love the overall changes [Bryan Garvin, Nexus 7]
  • Overall the app is a fantastic improvement: The biggest improvement is speed.  It feels a lot faster.  Not sure if that’s true or not, but it certainly appears to be the case. Swiping is faster and the articles seem to load a lot faster with less lag.  The layout and font choices are an improvement.  It feels more like a modern app.  Love the updated overlay with the colorful bars that come across showing story count. [Brant Tedeschi / HTC Thunderbolt]
  • Love the redesign. The visual aesthetic is very refreshing [Daniel Burgess / HTC EVO 4G]Excellent job on the new interface. Very refined [Brian Pittman, Nexus 7 and Moto Triumph]
  • I like the clean and polish look compared to the previous build [Santa Chhat / Galaxy Nexus]
  • Really loving the improvements overall [John Childs / Nexus 7]
  • Loving the black theme (Night) [Nootish Han/Samsung Galaxy S2]
  • The new feedly+android is a huge improvement over the last one. I just love the new theme and the new font [Varnavas Kotsonias / Xperia Arc S]
  • I absolutely love the new Feedly. It looks a lot sleeker than the current one, much cleaner and just as easy to navigate. [Mohamed Samir/ Galaxy SII]
  • Looks wonderful! [Jean-Baptiste Rouillac, Galaxy SIII]
  • The app looks stunning! Great work on the visual part, in my opinion it’s a lot better than the previous version. Loved it from the first sight  [Marcin Malinowski, HTC Sensation]
  • FANTASTIC [Mike Stevens]
  • Feedly feels smooth as ever [Thomas Wahrlich, Google Nexus S]I love the new build, it is the smoothest one yet [Cong Nguyen]
  • Very quick and responsive, and it looks great on my device [Dylan McCall, Nexus 7]
  • I like the new app, the UI is much improved and it’s faster. It’s very similar to the web app. I like the easy swipe access to the feeds side bar [Rossen]
  • This is a very nice upgrade, visually it is very very beautiful.  I love it.  Works pretty well too.  It makes the most of the screen real estate on my 7” tablet, it is very well executed.  I feel it is a good improvement over the previous version (and compared to the current version available on the iPad). [Eric Morin]
  • Beautiful. Facebook sharing is also fixed where previously it had issues on Galaxy Nexus. Like the new and improved look [Lee Yoke Kuan, Galaxy SIII, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7]
  • The app looks awesome. It’s powerful and beautiful and yet simple. Amazing job! [Seba Porta / Galaxy SII, Kindle Fire]
  • Love the new UI. Feels fresh, clean and modern [Dave Feltham]
  • I love the new interface. It is quick, user friendly and seems to be very reliable. My favorite new features are the color-coded categories for feeds on the left as well as the addition of integration with “Pocket” for saving pages [Kevin Drummond]

The “should be improved”:

  • Vertical scrolling in inlined articles should be smooter [Santa Chhat / Galaxy Nexus] Fixed in 10b5
  • Margin of the popup menu is off. See [John Childs / Nexus 7]  Fixed in 10b5
  • black line flickers in and out when scrolling through the list of articles: [John Childs / Nexus 7]  Fixed in 10b5
  • Disable the swipe to open store gesture. It conflicts with the swipe to next article gesture [Varnavas Kotsonias / Xperia Arc S] Fixed in 10b5
  • Permanent filters and/or the ability to save a search as a feed. Like, “Android” in “Gizmodo.” Alternatively, a reductive filter. Like, “Everything but Windows 8” on “Engadget.” I realize this is possible on some feeds, but it’s neither intuitive nor standard [Dom Bonanni, Julian Finn]
  • Better integration with Instagram/Flickr  [Winson]
  • Angry that the “open in browser” button is the Safari icon.  [Dom Bonanni, Motorola Droid 2, Steve Edson]  Fixed in 10b5
  • More layout options [Bryan Garvin, Nexus 7]
  • Had to login twice for OAuth to work [Brant Tedeschi / HTC Thunderbolt]  Fixed in 10b5
  • Smarter suggestions based on historical click patterns [Brant Tedeschi / HTC Thunderbolt]
  • When wired to Pocket, the saved for later section should show the content saved in pocket [Daniel Burgess / HTC EVO 4G] // Talking to the Pocket team about it.
  • Bug with the back button when when drilling down into a website [Brian Pittman, Nexus 7 and Moto Triumph]  Fixed in Beta4
  • It would be nice to have a one tap action to open an article in the external browser instead of the current two tap action [Brian Pittman, Nexus 7 and Moto Triumph]  Fixed in 10b5
  • Full screen support [Nootish Han/Samsung Galaxy S2]
  • Continue to improve fonts [Mohamed Samir/ Galaxy SII] Added Soho and Roboto support to 10b5 (including Android 4.0.4)
  • Would like to use both feedly save and pocket save [Steve Edson]
  • As a feature, I would suggest improving the image viewing, to make reading online comics easier [Rui Pires, gt i9000] // Will be
  • thank you for adding in an option to long press to save for later reading but I think a shorter long press would be less awkward, it may just be me but I feel like I’m holding my screen forever [Cong Nguyen]
  • On the Transformer Prime tablet, when scrolling down through the left-hand navigation pane I noticed that the “Edit Content” feature would be activated, even when I did NOT select that [Gary Oppenhuis, Asus Transformer Prime] // Changed the touch sensitivity to take into account the touch slop in 10b5
  • Offline reading [Gary Oppenhuis, Asus Transformer Prime]
  • Edit mode confused me at first, because I had triggered it by long-pressing a topic without expanding its list of individual feeds. I just saw Edit floating at the top with no sign of what I could edit [Dylan McCall, Nexus 7] In Beta 4, the long touch on a category name on the selector will both open the selector and switch to edit mode.
  • That overflow menu doesn’t behave like any other menu, either in Android or (that I can see) in Feedly. When I tap something off of the menu, the thing I have tapped responds to my press and the menu does not close.  [Dylan McCall, Nexus 7]
  • While flipping through the Today section this morning, after maybe five minutes a bar appeared on the bottom saying “No network. Tap here to reload.” The problem is I _did_ have a perfectly good network connection (confirmed by opening an article and watching an image load), and clicking that bar dumped me all the way back to the beginning. [Dylan McCall, Nexus 7] // In 10b5, swiping a card will hide the no network sign
  • Create an option in the settings to “remove clutter” as a default. Navigating to a full post is a pain with most major sites. The ability to get a clean looking article is very nice. But since I always want that, I don’t think I should need to click that “remove clutter” icon each time [Mark Groves, Kindle Fire + JellyBean]
  • The video player could be improved. The “Ted” app it’s a great example of this ( It follows the Android guidelines maintaining their style. There’s also a new API coming for YouTube videos to be embedded seamlessly in an app. Here’s the video session: [Seba Porta] Fixed in 10b5
  • Add an option to pull the full article from the site when the feed is truncated  [Seba Porta]
  • Would be nice if you use could get rid of the Android 2.0 style in Configuration, video player, etc. (at least in Android 4.0+). [Seba Porta]
  • Some pictures in articles aren’t centered or/and are rather small (see “National Geographic News” feed) [Seba Porta]
  • The App does not work correctly with lower DPIs set. I attached a screenshot with DPI set to 182 (default is 240). [Jan Bader, Galaxy S2]
  • Need a faster way to open the article in an external browser [Dave Feltham] Fixed in 10b5. From 2 touch to a single touch.
  • When reaching the end of the today section, it would be nice to have a swipe to refresh gesture [Kevin Drummond]

  1. I’d like to emphasis the need to make opening in browser a optional default action or a one click action. For performance and personal preference reasons. Also having trouble saving for later with a long press

  2. Thanks for polishing your release like this. It’s nice being able to give feedback before things are completely set in stone :)

I forgot to mention I love the simplified gestures. The old Feedly app always seemed fiddly to me because there were so many hidden buttons placed around the screen. With those gone, I feel much more confident tapping things.

  3. I took the url from beta 1 and replaced 2 and it seemed to work until I wait for the proper download link. Everything seems to work except the hold to save. everything is smoother although I do miss losing the swipe right to show sections.

    1. Sure. Please send an email and we will send you an invite. Note: If you have already sent an email, please expect to receive the invitation tomorrow.

        1. He said you wanted it dicrtely under challenge please click on images above to view close up and select which you approve. also please call me when you have sizes and print siz and approval so i can get job on schedule and ready to print thanks

        2. I started to read thogurh the comments, but too many, so sorry if I’m repeating:1) Overall, I love it.2) Ditto to major concerns about the 5 4 home screen. If I only followed 20 blogs I wouldn’t need a reader. I have dozens of folders full of hundreds of sites, some for news, some for work, some for fun, and there’s no way I would ever use this app if I couldn’t access them all. A list of folders would be a minimal solution, but can’t you have drill down menus? For example, a 5 x 4 grid of my top 20 folders, color coded for those w/ new items, and clicking on them opens up that folder to show which blogs have new items. I can then choose to read all which would send me to the digest type view, or open an individual blog to read those articles. Man, that would be great.3) Would prefer r-to-l swipe mark as read and go to next, with swipe up to save or mark as unread.4) Instapaper integration would be AWESOME5) Where’s star/save for later?

        3. RSS is just plumbing beewten news UXs and perhaps not really the problem…like suggesting Gmail is poor because IMAP4 doesn’t filter your messages!RSS readers were never going to be breakout apps. Try explaining to a regular user that they have to copy and paste strange URLs from orange icons into various apps and they soon lose interest. This was one of the challenges we (unsuccessfully) tried to attack with isn’t the problem, but the user experiences around them are’nt mature. Maybe Andy and yourself have broadly overlapping tastes so your news is generally similar.Alternatives like, Flipboard etc are still plumbed’ with RSS its just more removed from the user’s experience of news. I agree apps like Reader could do more to anticipate and direct your attention, but its not really the death of RSS simply pushing it into the background.Where RSS is itself a problem are the very broad interpretations of the standard, leaving app developers to do a lot of the work of normalising ingested feeds…

    1. The new version integrates with Pocket. Go to settings and enter your pocket username and password and you will be able to see the pocket icon being used instead of the feedly save for later.

      1. This was not a smart move: 1. Now that I entered my pocket info, I can’t save 4 later with feedly (leaving it blank doesn’t fix it). 2. It’s already possible to save to pocket using the ‘share’ option. 3. Like myself, many ppl have different uses 4 each tool’s stream. Pls pls allow us to choose where to save to, or at least allow us to remove this integration.

    1. Yes. Sorry. This was a bug. It has been fixed in 10b6. Please send me an email and I will give you access to the latest build. Thanks for the heads up.

  4. Looks great! I am quite happy with this app!
Could you please change the browser icon in the share menu? It’s an android app not iOS and the icon is closer to the safari icon.
Perhaps also add an option to choose which services the user would like, for example I might replace facebook for G+

    1. Regarding the browser icon: yes. it has been changed in 10b5. Regarding G+, we need Google to enable a write API. Soon hopefully. -Edwin

  5. Feedly badly needs to pre-cache feeds for reading offline, like every other RSS reader.

As a complement, it would be nice to have options to disable loading images over 3G, and to Mobilise links by default.

      1. This is a very popular request. We are going to look into it. I am curious. How would you feel about keeping the rest of feedly free but adding a $3.99 option which would give you access to 1) offline and 2) auto-mobilize links by default. Would you pay that to further enhance your reading experience?

        1. I would happily pay for having feedly providing offline reader for android, but I think $4 it’s a bit too much for those extra features (I’m not saying it’s too expensive, but there should be more difference between both apps to get people to pay $4)

        2. Yes, $4 is OK for offline supporting and ad-free Android App. It should be able to look simple (e.g. like gReader for Android).
Also you should make the content available over Web (no add-ons! I’m not reading everything using one browser, not even on one machine) and make an option of changing the style like the look of Google Reader. If you make this available also for a fee, it would be acceptable as well, esp. if you would keep the history of everything forever and make it searchable. I would appreciate a one time fee for this. It would make me feel like it is not gonna be closed anytime soon.

        3. Off-line browsing is a make or break feature for me, so I would pay for the app. I’m a current customer of MobileRSS paid version and I’m looking for a post-Google Reader solution.

    1. Try to replace 10b5 by 10b6 in the URL that was sent to you. Note: 10b5 and 10b6 are very close. Just two bug fixes between the two builds.

1. Good one. yes I live in Feedly. Once I learned that UI I fly tguhroh by category just like Greader. I do like the sharing options and ability to see thumbnails on the fly.Good tip though for those not into feeds. POint them to the OPML file I built as well. A great starter.

  6. What about the iPad version that is totally broken for some WEEKS now. We can’t log in with Tumblr anymore on it, and that was one of the most important feature.

    1. Hi Seb, The iPad version is being reviewed by Apple and will be released at the same time in Sept 10th. The initial feedly 10 roll out does not include support for Tumblr. We are reaching out to Tumblr to work with them and deliver a much better integration based on the v2 of their API. But it is going to take 8 weeks to finalize everything. Sorry for the delay: this release ended up being a lot bigger than we initially thought – in a good way.

  7. Thinkpad Tablet
    Official ICS

Visually looks great. Picks up pictures from some of my RSS feeds much better.
    Appears to be faster

Have to authorize Twitter multiple times
Want access to “My Feeds” as the start page like the old versions

Other than that, keep up the good work !! :)

  8. 10b8 works well, thx :)
Do you plan to work on the widget ? (for, i.e, displaying multiple items, scrollable widget, transparent background…)

  9. It is nice to see that you have released this version on the play store. Very gooooood job and thank your for this beautiful app :)

  10. Just wanted to pass along a huge thank you and congratulations. You guys nailed it with 10.0. I deleted Flipboard. I was using both feedly and flipboard before but you made the decision easy. Awesome work!

  11. I know you have worked hard on this version and it looks great, but I really prefer the old version. I like having a list of feeds/unread count on the start page and having lost the ability to sort oldest first is a deal-killer. Is there a way to get the apk for the old version? I am kicking myself for not backing up the old one before installing this one.

    1. Hola recien lo dergasco, lo provare para luego decir como me fue, pero les adelanto que esto de los softwares es muy importante para el desarrollo de los universitarios y no la porqueria de esos ingenieros que ensef1an a lo antiguo, es decir solo teoria

    2. 16ad435ecReading your article made me rzaeile how much effort you must have put into its content. I really enjoyed reading all this information and agree with you on a big portion of it. Good job. 151

    3. I wanted to write you the bit of reamrk to finally thank you very much as before on your wonderful opinions you’ve discussed on this site. It has been pretty generous with you to offer extensively exactly what most people might have advertised for an e book to generate some money for themselves, most importantly given that you could have tried it if you desired. Those tips likewise served like a good way to realize that the rest have the identical zeal like my own to know a great deal more with regards to this issue. I am certain there are lots of more pleasant moments in the future for individuals that read carefully your blog.

    4. I’m confused by your crsitciims of Google Reader. You know it has a Share feature, right? These days, I filter out most of my own feeds and just read stuff my friends have shared. Also, they do try to deliver the most relevant stuff to you, for example when you first go to the Reader homepage. In the main content area, they are trying to show you the stuff from your feeds that you like the most.Oh and check out the Recommended Items feature, based on stuff you read/share/like, which is scarily good at delivering stuff to me that I like, from other feeds I’m not subscribed to.I agree though that the main problem with RSS is that we inevitably add too many feeds to our readers, and end up overwhelmed by the noise. I think that this is the fault of the human condition rather than the technology. And bless Google, they are trying to circumvent the human condition with their voodoo, as usual.

    5. Promptly send the Quotes Chimp copies of any notices or legal papers you receive. If a lawyer contacts you regarding the accident or you are sued, you must immediately turn the matter over to your insurance company so it can put its people to work on the case. Failure to comply can be grounds for your company to attempt to deny coverage or to refuse to defend you.

  12. “When wired to Pocket, the saved for later section should show the content saved in pocket [Daniel Burgess / HTC EVO 4G] // Talking to the Pocket team about it”

i hope this feature will be out soon, i keep adding things to pocket but then never read them, have about 300 pages now lol if only they would show up in feedly i could get through all of them sometime this decade

  13. I really, really agree with the suggestion that we can ask for the full article to be downloaded by default. It entirely defeats the point if I have to load up the website every time if I want to read more than a couple sentences.

  14. saved for later shows alien articles to me. I can not remove them also.
Can’t I view articles from pocket, in this section?

    1. Hi Krishan. This is indeed a bug. We are working on decoupling the Google Reader star == feedly save from Pocket and Instagram. When that happens, it will also fix this issue. Thanks for the heads up.

  15. Hey there,

Is there the possibility of sorting articles from oldest to newest going to be ready anytime soon? That is a key feature for most of us that would greatly enhance the app,

  16. If you’re looking to be a full-on Google Reader replacement, then offline options are a no-brainer! With all the Android and iOS apps that sync with Reader already on the market that has this featured built in by default, in many of the free ones I must add, I don’t see why this wasn’t implemented in the first place, especially when the app was made to accommodate tablets and I’m sure most tablets out there only have a WiFi radio built in. Yes, I will will gladly pay for offline options, but this should’ve been a feature implemented years ago (as it was the reason why I stopped using Feedly in the first place).

  17. Feedly appears to be good, but unless I can read my articles whilst going through numerous tunnels on the train journey to work, then Feedly gets struck off the list of options for RSS readers and my search continues. Feedly has a lot of positives, but this feature is the difference between it being a ‘killer app’ and an ‘app’ for me. I hope this is something that can be built-in properly before Google Reader disappears.

  19. If some one desires expert view on the topic of blogging and site-building after that i propose him/her to visit this web site, Keep up the
    fastidious job.

    1. I needed to copomse you one very small remark to be able to say thanks a lot again on the wonderful tricks you’ve featured in this case. It has been really strangely open-handed of people like you to make unhampered just what numerous people would’ve supplied as an electronic book to get some dough for themselves, most importantly considering the fact that you might well have done it if you wanted. These inspiring ideas also acted to become a great way to understand that some people have similar fervor similar to my very own to learn a whole lot more with regard to this issue. I am sure there are lots of more enjoyable periods in the future for folks who discover your blog.

    3. By re-publishing I don’t mean explicit shairng I mean automatic re-routing Let me try and explain. I have, in the past, when trying to explain the very concept of an RSS Reader, created a news site for someone (say in Healthcare) that is essentially an RSS aggregator that was open to all and didn’t need a login (and of course wasn’t personalised). It was only once someone saw a page with relevant content in that the penny would drop. And also, because many people don’t want the bother of finding quality RSS feeds and maintaining them, this online aggregator would bridge the gap between someone who was an avid reader and geeky enough to find the orange icons and people who aren’t. Rojo used to do this wonderfully, Google Reader doesn’t at all.But going deeper than that, Google Reader still feels very lame. The UI is AWFUL and as a service, I can imagine that Google are making no money out of it, and so quietly shut it down. And as I say in my next blog post, there’s nowhere to jump to. I vaguely remember that my desktop-based RSS reader, NetNewsWire used to balk on over 200 feeds, which is why I stopped using it.I imagine I haven’t learned many of the Google Reader features and that I am as bored with NEWS IN GENERAL as I am with the shoddiness of the tools to read it I always felt an RSS Reader could do MORE than just be a reader somehow

    4. Join a QuotesChimp. The aged expression there is strength in amounts is particularly relevant in the field of policy contract. Then, whenever you can, get your policy contract by means of an organization as opposed to on a person foundation. Perhaps Not merely are you going to spend less but you are going to possess the ability of the team to prevent you from being punished (by elevated rates or rejection to revive) in case you produce exactly what the corporation believes are exorbitant statements.

  20. Wrong: pay day loans america target lower-income people and charge so much in interest that they’re forced to” roll over” the debt for three months. First-of-all you do not have to go through the rules and regulations well so that you are looking for Pay Day Loans America. 21. In mobile version is vital that you add remove clutter in the default settings . It’s too annoying to wait for the page is loaded, with all the publicity, and then click the button remove clutter to display the contents thoroughly.

  22. I can’t stand sleeping in complete silence, so I always have a fan on. Also, I’lll admit that I use my ipod for most of my work day since
I spend a lot of it working through paperwork. I also often use it for my walks, though, from time to time, I’ll go without it and just listen to the sounds around me and take in the nice weather.

  23. Reblogged this on ThinkUbble Digital Marketing and commented:
For those that Blog and use multiply Social media channels whether it’s for business and or personal use, FEEDLY is a must. I recently started using Feedly for my Business , by the end of my week I was able to spend an extra 10 hours working on other projects. Most of all it’s allowed me to work on my business Blog, Social Media, updating websites, and landing pages.
We often get to busy to practice what we preach. That thought is constantly in the back of my mind, here I’am providing the latest a greatest Online Marketing methods to clients and I’m not even practicing it myself. 25. Have you ever considered about adding a little bit
more than just your articles? I mean, what you say
is valuable and everything. However imagine if you
added some great photos or videos to give your posts more, “pop”!
Your content is excellent but with pics and video
clips, this website could undeniably be one of the best in its niche.
    Very good blog!

  26. Orange Guard is not only incredibly safe and effective, but it will leave your house smelling like the amazing fruit that it is made from, oranges.
You’re looking for a smooth gel like consistency so if you think you need
to cook it a little longer you may certainly do so. Do not use much oorange oil in

My blog has a lot of unique content I’ve either created myself or
outsourced but it seems a lot of it is popping it up all over the web
without my agreement. Do you know any solutions to help prevent
content from being ripped off? I’d really appreciate it.
