Feedly for Android 14.1 Beta 2

Yesterday’s Beta 1 went really well: We collected a ton of great feedback. We listened, fixed the issues and are ready for a second round of test driving+feedback. So here is Beta 2:

If you want to help us improve the quality, please install the build and let us know if:
1) You still need to re-login again and again.
2) If you have issues marking items as read
3) If you have issues refreshing content.
4) If you see “feedly is over capacity” – If you do, email us a screenshot.
5) If you see layout bugs
6) If you run into anything else you feel is not normal.

To report an issue, just leave a comment or send an email to edwin@feedly.com.

Here are some instructions on how to install this beta build:
1) Un-install the existing version of the feedly application
2) Go to Settings > Security and check the “Unknown sources” option
3) Open the browser and navigate to http://s3.feedly.com/private/feedly-14.1.2.apk
(this should start the download of the new feedly android app. If it does not, you
might want to try to dropbox the build to yourself)
4) Go to notification panel and wait until the download is complete.
5) Install the app

Thank you for helping us make feedly a better product.

      1. Its intresting. u changed my comment :D
anyway, so how can i access my dashboard with chrome?

          1. OMG! Feedly I wrote 20 lines about this problem and now u said this is the address?
As I told u the page redirects to feedly.com/index.html#required !

  1. Hi Edwin, i got a suggestion for feedly. ¿why don’t put an option for open a new tab when you make click on a news feed, or put in the center of the screen the pop up window?

    Please, excuse my english.

    Thank you

    1. Hi Edgar. Please submit suggestions which are not related to the beta to feedly.uservoice.com so that they do not get lost. We can review them once the 14.1 mobile update is released. -Edwin

  2. Why don’t you publish the beta on the market along the stable one? (Opera started doing it also)
So people doesn’t have to uninstall and reinstall all over again.

  3. There is some problem with the switching of theme.

    1. Launch with Day theme on. The horizontal separator is in light grey.
    2. Menu > Settings > Switch Theme
    3. Night theme showing horizontal separator in bright white which I think is wrong.
    4. Close app and relaunch app.
    5. Night theme showing horizontal separator in light grey which I think is the correct one.

Similar problem occur when switching from Night to Day.

  4. The “All is done..” screen is now showing when the last stack is swiped up. But then, it seems articles are now not possible to change to “Unread”.

    1. This is how to replicate.

      1. When there are unread items.
      2. Make sure “Auto mark as read” is checked.
      3. Go to “All”.
      4. Swipe up .. up .. until you see “All is done..”. Good so far because all previous items are read. Feedly Chrome reflect all as read too.
      5. Feedly Chrome able to toggle Read/Unread.
      6. Make sure no unread items.
      7. Close and relaunch Feedly Android.
      8. “All” section show “All read”.
      9. Refresh Feedly Chrome.
      10. Try to toggle Read/Unread articles. Not possible now!

  5. Thank you for the new beta build!

The “Favorite Saving Tool” option still resets from “Feedly” to “Pocket” every time I quit the app.

And I found another bug: the menu button of the phone (which, I suppose, should toggle the left sidebar?) works only once. It’s not very troublesome, since there are other ways to access the sidebar, but sometimes it’s a little annoying. To reproduce it:
    1. I start Feedly.
    2. I tap the phone menu button to show the sidebar. It works.
    3. I tap the back button to hide the sidebar.
    4. If I tap again the menu button, nothing happens. I can access the sidebar only by tapping the toolbar menu button or swiping.

My phone is a Samsung Galaxy Mini 2. Android 2.3.6.

  6. My issue is that the TODAY tab on the left sidebar is not present. Subsequently all my feeds are mixed and not grouped by website. I reinstalled feedly from this site but its still not working.

  7. “Promote to Must Read” missing

    1. Open sidebar and choose “All” for all articles.
    2. Open overflow menu, there is no “Promote to Must Read” option.
    3. Open sidebar and choose a catogorized or uncategorized feed.
    4. Open overflow menu and you see the “Promote to Must Read” option.

      1. Promote to Must read is only available at the level of an individual source. For example, I love to read swissmiss. I try to read every post she publishes. I have promoted her to must read in my feedly so that more of her content is featured in my today section and she is part of the must read folder at the top of my home menu. I home this clarifies. -Edwin

  8. I’m surprised nobody has problem with this, but when I tap on e.g. “All”, and then tap on a headline, I can only swipe through 3 articles at a time, then they get repeated. I can only see the 4th, 5th, and 6th, if I tap on them after the swipe. Then it all starts again: after the 6th, they get repeated, so I have to swipe, and tap. Sorry, if I’m not being clear, I can make a video, if you want. This is rather annoying, otherwise, the app is cool.

  9. There is still a bug persisted from current stable version until this beta. Sometimes when you tap on an item and enter the detail view, it will just show an empty screen until I close it and open it again.

I am sure this bug has been reported but just mention it anyway.

      1. Not really specific to any feed. It can happen anytime, which is hard to trace the cause. I will see if I am able to consistently reproduce while using it.

  10. When you try to save an image, sometimes you aren’t able to long press to get the “save image” dialog. It happens sporadically. I think it works best if you successfully save an image, then while still in the article view–swipe to the next article and then try to save another picture. You’ll be able to long press, but not get the “save image” dialog.

Keep up the great work! I love Feedly and all of it’s glory.

    1. Edit: If you save an image successfully and then swipe to the next article–you won’t be able to save pictures from that point on. You’ll need to exit the article view, then go back to the article you want to save an image from for it to work again.

  11. Not sure if this is a new issue, but if a post contains a link to an .apk (like this one) when you tap the link, you just get a blank page. Same if you press the Visit Website button. You actually have to send the link out to Chrome to be able to download it.

  12. M articles are not probably being market as read. had to recheck to mall add read as I swipe through articles. didn’t help.

Will offline browsing be a future option?

  13. I need three things from a feed reader:
    Sync read articles across devices
    Available in Chrome/web and android
    Offline reading in android

So far, only 2 out of three available without using G reader. Can I get a beta for Feedly pro that includes

  14. A factor that makes sure its totally great is whenever you get a nice time on Minecraft Premium Account Generator almost inside the first few minutes of playing, like being jumped on by a creeper.
The same spokesperson also provided some details in regards to mash-up

  15. It’s absolute control and power, and for the few that will
be in charge, they believe it will bring them happiness.
The royal tigers, numerous reptiles, amazing peacocks and giant elephants add to the beauty of the wildlife sanctuaries.
But if you visit Persia the belief is different there.

  16. Undeniably imagine that that you said. Your favourite reason appeared to be on the internet the easiest thing to take note of.

I say to you, I definitely get annoyed whilst folks consider concerns that they
just do not recognise about. You controlled to hit the nail upon the
top and defined out the whole thing with no need side-effects , other
people can take a signal. Will likely be back to get more.

traditionally the symbol of a large meteor.
