Feedly for Developers : Invitation to Innovate

Millions of users depend on their feedly for inspiration, information, and to feed their mind.  But one size does not fit all.  Individuals have different workflows, different habits, and different devices.  In our efforts to evolve feedly from a product to a platform, we have therefore decided to open up the feedly API.  Effective immediately, developers are welcome to deliver new applications, experiences, and innovations via the feedly cloud.  We feel strongly that this will help to accelerate innovation and better serve our users.

Information and resources about the feedly cloud API is available at developer.feedly.com.

developer.feedly.com

We have been working with fifty developers over the past six months to design an API which is flexible enough to capture the needs of different classes of application (readers, vertical enterprise apps, dashboards, integration hubs, vertical communities), but simple enough that a single developer can build a great app in less than a week.

Developers are a passionate and imaginative lot.  With the feedly cloud API now publicly available, we are looking forward to seeing applications and services that those of us at feedly could never have imagined.  We will do our best to highlight some of these forthcoming apps on this blog in the coming months.

The feedly cloud API encapsulates not only data access to millions of feeds but also offers a powerful personalization graph.  Categories, feeds, topics, tags, mixes, and more are higher-level concepts that allow users to easily define the slice of the Web they want to consume.  The power of the feedly cloud is that users can perform this personalization once and access it across many apps. The same personalization graph can power an iPhone reader, a desktop reader, a phone dashboard application, an auto entertainment system, a profile in someone’s favorite fashion hub, or a profile in an enterprise marketing or purchasing app.

The feedly cloud API is the same API we use to build all applications, including article search and other feedly pro features.

Simply put, personalized content makes applications and user experience better. Feedly cloud is offering a simple yet powerful way to add content to existing applications or to design new ones.

Finally, a special thanks to all the developers that have helped us shape the feedly cloud API. You can find their creations at: http://www.feedly.com/apps.html

      1. Hello, Edwin. I’ve filled form and requested API key three times. Five days later I still haven’t received any answer. Does Feedly API key request form working?

    1. We are working on adding a login based on Twitter. Not ready yet. Having lots of users makes release not fully backed stuff a lot harder. Logins, widget, feedly mini have all been delayed because of this reason. -Edwin

      1. Based on Twitter! Why not a Feedly login based on Feedly?

When I started using Twitter I got suggestions to follow people that was in my Google contacts. When I changed my email in Twitter settings to a non Google address those suggestions disappeared.

I don’t think that Google is any better or worse than the rest but I fail to see why Feedly shouldn’t have its own login.

Is Feedly being paid for collecting advertising data? If so, be open about it. And secondly, at least let people with a Pro Plan get a Feedly login as they are already paying for the service.

        1. I’d actually rather not have a separate login for feedly. A choice of OpenID providers (include facebook, twitter, etc.) would be easier as a user. Why have yet another login to keep track of??

          1. Having an OpenID login does not exclude having a Feedly login. It should be a choice, especially for paying customers.

I still think my question merits an honest answer from Feedly.

      2. Twitter login!?!?! Jesus tap-dancing christ, take your thumbs out of your ***** and make wise decisions from now on! It seems that almost everything you guys “improve”/develop makes my head spin with confusion. I’m a developer myself and I just can’t understand most of your decisions at all. Time to check another rss-reading-service?

  1. Where is the dedicated Feedly login WITHOUT GOOGLE??!!?! I believe that you said “late summer” last time you bothered to comment on this issue!!!

    1. Out of interest, are you a paying customer? If not, stop acting like they owe you anything. And if you are a paying customer, calm down, and wait patiently until they launch it.

Being a “developer” yourself, you should know that annoying customers shouting at you does not help in anyway. If anything, it makes you work slower.

      1. your reply is pointless. he may have used capitalization but what he asks is an accurate and relevant question.

  2. How can I get someone at feedly to answer the email I sent a month ago about moving out of the sandbox?

  3. Heya i am for the first time here. I found this board and I
to find It really useful & it helped me out a lot. I am hoping to
offer one thing back and help others like you helped me.

your Facebook page, twitter feed, or linkedin profile?

  5. Woah! I’m really enjoying the template/theme of this site. It’s simple, yet effective.
A lot of times it’s very difficult to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and visual appearance.
I must say you have done a great job with this.
Also, the blog loads super quick for me on Chrome. Outstanding Blog!

  6. First of all I want to say awesome blog! I had a quick
question in which I’d like to ask if you do not mind.

I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your head before writing.

I have had difficulty clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out.
I truly do take pleasure in writing but it just seems
like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually lost just trying to
figure out how to begin. Any ideas or tips? Thank you!

  7. Undeniably believe that which you said.
Your favorite justification seemed to be on the net the
easiest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get
annoyed while people think about worries that they just don’t know
about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and defined out the whole thing without having side effect ,
people can take a signal. Will likely be back to get
    more. Thanks

I’ve joined your feed and stay up for in search of more of your magnificent
post. Also, I have shared your site in my social networks

  12. The eight minute video created by science
video blog Veritasium claims in its video description on You – Tube that it provides ‘evidence Facebook’s revenue is based on fake likes.
It is an asset to all marketers and one that most marketers
are aware of and take advantage of. It gives the brand a chance to get connected to
the potential customers and expand the roots.

  13. I seldom comment, however i did a few searching and wound up here Feedly for Developers : Invitation to Innovate | Building Feedly.

  14. Seeing Dwaraka, Kuchela gets surprised seeing the huge army and palace of Krishna.

Go out, have adventures, have fun, and meet new people.
the most important thing you can do right now is follow the advice
from someone who really knows how to get a man back.

  15. This design is wicked! You most certainly know how to keep a reader
entertained. Between your wit and your videos,
I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Excellent job.

I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that,
how you presented it. Too cool!

  16. Howdy just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The text in your content
seem to be running off the screen in Opera. I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with web browser compatibility but I
thought I’d post to let you know. The style and design look great though!

Hope you get the problem solved soon. Thanks

  17. The great thing about Brandy’s camp is that the children try both, but in a safe environment.
Flyers and posters have been placed on the east side and downtown areas of Spartanburg.
Hannah and Elijah match one another so much because they feed off of one another’s toxic narcissism.
