Should feedly include in the feed index all the sources or the updated ones only?

I’m not sure what this means. When I go to the Organize Sources section they all seem to be listed even though I have “list updated sources only” checked.

Hi Jeremy. On each category page, there is on the right a list of must read sources and other sources. The knobs you are referring to control the behavior of that module.
The goal of the organize sources page is to allow you to perform spring cleaning so it lists all the sources.

Never mind. I’m an idiot. This setting controls what’s shown in the “Sources” area of the right sidebar when on many of the feedly reading sections.

Hi Feedly. I just discovered, thanks to this tutorial, the preview original shortcut (shift+v). It’s pretty useful, but I mostly use my mouse to navigate, so it would be great if you guys could juste add a clickable link to the preview, near keep as unread • preview • visit site for example.

Question – recently I have noticed that in Magazine view, the articles that Feedly chooses to display are not the most recent articles in the feed nor are they prioritized by recommendations. Is there a setting for Feedly to display the most recent 4 or 5 articles per feed instead of “intelligently” selecting the articles to display?
We do not. But it would be easy to add so I will talk to the dev team about it.

Well i Second that. Its a mess when all u want to see is recent updates but the featured module sticks right upthere with “intelligently” chosen articles. I want to remove this module please!

How about a reader (online & off) for the unread or unfiltered blog items of your chosen sources. And a way to click a specific delete button for articles that are chosen (from a blog) from feedly, and then a new item from that same blog come up on feedly (a blog item that may be more interesting). The ability to do this unlimited times until an article of interest comes up. The ability to do this if the item chosen by feedly has already been read by you and you want an article from the same bolg (or other blog if you don’t want to refresh everything)..

I love the look of Feedly and the intent of this tutorial, but in Chrome, I can’t seem to mark feeds as favorites or change the layout by clicking on the pencil icon. Nothing happens when I click the star. And although I get the menu with different views and filters, I can’t make any changes in the window. I’m using Chrome 9.0.587.0 dev.
Whatever was happening yesterday appears to have resolved itself. Is there a way to bulk edit Feedly so it by default shows both read and unread items in all the feeds in a given category? I use Google Reader to listen to podcasts. I might look at the description of a podcast but not listen right away. I don’t want it to disappear from the list altogether, though.
I’m liking Feedly way better now that I can customize it.

How can I make sure my Twitter id and bio show for articles I publish? I keep getting other peoples bios to show when seeing articles from my own feeds (same common name however so it searched somewhere).

Welcome onboard. Yes. there is a way to be able to see both read and unread articles in feed and category pages:
1) go to a feed or category page.
2) click on the pen icon on the top right of the page.
3) uncheck the unread only check mark

Suggestion — For massive websites like nytimes or slate, I only read certain sections, but the RSS is for the entire site. What about a way to filter it, so I only have to see Arts and Life updates from slate, instead of being bombarded by the 50 news items that also show up in my News content feeds?

I am one of multiple publishers on the pixldinc blogs (pixldinc.com/blog) but no bio info is displayed for any of the publishers except for one, that’s after placing the the ‘bio’ directive’ as instructed. Hi James. If you restart the browser and go to the history page, you should be able to access the article.

I am having the same problem. I clicked “Hide” on a feed on the Home page, which made it disappear. There was no way to get the feed to show back up on the Home page.
I did not find this tutorial at all helpful. It tells you what it does but not how to do it. It says import bookmarks and sources but does not say how to do it. It says it can share and find sources but not how to do this. You are assuming a level of knowledge that not everyone has. It is more a sales or advertising pitch than a tutorial because it teaches nothing. You have pitched this at those who already know what it is, what about those who do not know, you are missing a whole range of potential users who just scratch their heads shrug and move on because all they have is a blank page and no knowledge of what to do with it.

* When I change subscriptions in google reader (Add/change name, etc) the changes are not reflected in feedly. Why? (Do I need to wait sometime?)

Edwin, I asked this back on Nov 25th, but I know it got missed in the traffic here. A different author/bio (same common name as me) is being assigned to articles I am publishing. I push many people to use Feedly but realized they are not seeing me as the correct author. Any ideas on how to control or fix this?

Sorry about that. The twitter bio feature is still in an experimental stage and does not deal with homonyms correctly. We are working on two fronts to address this:
for feedly v5 (January 12th), we are putting a lot more constraints around how the match is performed (which will results in fewer matches but also in fewer negative matches).
for feedly v6 (March), we are going to allow authors to add some metadata in their RSS feeds to help influence the matching if they want their bio to be displayed in feedly.

I subscribed a blog that contains articles that older than 5 years (the first article was posted in 2007) and is there any way i can read those old articles ?
I am after this feature too, only 3 articles shown, but I want to read everything from 2009.
Is there any way to display “read” articles that are hidden? I see no check box anywhere to hide read articles that I can uncheck. I want to be able to mark articles as read without them being hidden (as with Google Reader, which gave you the option to show them or not). I do not want to go to “history” to read hidden articles as I prefer to see them in their own categories, and the history category is an extremely inefficient way to review these articles. I often re-view “read” articles for the comments that come up on them and also for future research, so having them disappear is a horrible feature for me.

Update: I have found a partial answer to this problem. In the upper right hand corner of your feed page there is a sunburst icon to change “Categories and filtering” and you can uncheck the “unread articles only” box to see unread articles. Unfortunately I don’t see any way to do this globally and it may have to be done manually for each of your feeds.

Two things would make this “the app I’m looking for”. First, you clearly have an algorythm for prioritizing the items. But I don’t want sports nor celebrity stuff always getting ranked up at the top. How about options so we can say rank this up or that down?
Also, give us an easy way to “mark read” or “hide”. I don’t want to read all the articles and I don’t want to mark the entire section read. If I could remove the junk quickly – this would be a very good app!

Hi Natalie,I see, what you refer as sprite sheet (.h and .m) is what we nomlraly call a class. Yes, I would recommend to make each sprite type its own class handling its own touches. So if you have kids and teachers, you would make two classes, a teacher class and a kid class. That all depends on what type of behavior you want. I am supposing above that teacher behaves differently from kids, and that the kids behave similar to each other. But if it is not so, for instance the girls behave differently from the boys, then you would have three classes. Suppose that the girls behave 90% as the boys do and 10% differently. Then you would make a kids class, and subclass it into two subclasses, boys class and girls class. the same behavior would go into kids class and the different behavior would go into girls class and boys class. For instance in the GalaxyFighter course there is a FlyManager class, where I collect all the behavior that is common among the flying objects like, MeteorManager, AlienManager, PlanetManager and so on. Study that code carefully and you will see the possibilities!thanksBob

Previously I used to get several feeds from different scientific journals and resources, but due to some problem (I am not sure about the problem) all my files were deleted and literally my whole account was deleted. However, I tried to start again and set my priorities. But this time while I tried to register for rss feeds from some “Wiley scientific journals” (few examples: Advanced materials, Advanced functional materials, Angewante Chemie international edition and few others) I cannot register for feeds. So could please help me suggesting the steps which I could follow and obtain the feeds from the above publishers?
